Had a male today nectaring on the Canada Thistle that is growing in our abandoned vegetable garden in the backyard. A few minutes before, had another soar overhead in the front yard. Noticed it as its shadow was cast in front of me gliding southwest, just above head height. It soared up and then over the 8 foot fence out of sight. Was not able to determine sex. The backyard male was observed for 10 minutes before he, too, was on his way following the same southwest direction and flight height. 20°C, partly cloudy, humid, very light 4 km/h wind due west at 270° shifting to south southeast.
Observations with the naked eye. Time of observation 10:50 until 11:05.
