Nectaring on Tithonia

As my wife went out our front door at about 2:40 PM today, heading to our mailbox, she spotted a (female ?) Monarch Butterfly nectaring on one of our recently opened Tithonia blossoms by our front sidewalk.  I snagged my camera and managed to capture the included photo before the Monarch took off toward our neighbors to the west.  This is our first observation of what is likely to be a Monarch headed to Mexico.

At the time, the air temperature was 73°F, the dew point was 50°F, the humidity was 44%, the air pressure was 28.63 inches and slowly dropping, and there was a 10 mph breeze blowing from the west under partly cloudy skies.
