Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/13/2023

Number: 7

Got a kick out of watching this chubby female ruby-throated hummer sit on my homemade perch most of the day. Hummers couldn't land on top of the hook because it was too round and slippery. Picked up another ruby-throat today and watched them battle over black-and-blue salvias. Counted 7 female/juvenile RTHBs today. Beautiful sunny day with high in the mid-60's. 3 or 4 squabbling hummers extended quitting time to 7:47 p.m. central time. It was a nice surprise as they had been quitting around 7:40 the last few days.
