Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 09/11/2023

Number: 54

Once I noticed a monarch on my swamp milkweed (August 21-22, 2023), I place garden stakes around them and cover them with mosquito netting. The caterpillars are protected under the netting, and will then crawl up the netting when ready and make their chrysalis. The last chrysalis formed on September 11th, for a total of 54 chrysalises. They will hatch out over the next week or two. Once they hatch out, I lift the netting and off they go.
