Approximately 125 monarchs seen 5:45-7:45pm before 7:38 sunset at Tip at Point Pelee National Park. Upon arrival observed at Tip shuttle stop monarchs showing interest already in clustering in same Hackberry as usual that has branch over shuttle road. Several flying around.
Walked down west path to Tip & then to east side of Tip. Observed from shoreline looking west & in interior trees several monarchs roosting, some individuals but also several clusters of 2 to 5 totalling about 28 clusters. They were on Hackberry, Mulberry & Virginia Creeper vines at heights of 6' up to 12/15'.
7pm returned to shuttle stop & located as stated above, a cluster of 15 which increased to 20 on north side of a descending branch at least 30' up. Also a cluster of 2 on Virginia creeper vine about 12' up. By 7:30 all activity stopped.
Mostly cloudy & 18°c with light SE wind @ 5/18 kmh. Daytime high 21°c. Overnight low 14°c.
