Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Picture taken this Sunday @ 12:11 pm.

Morning temp started out with a nice cool 66 degrees and the expected high is 91 degrees.

Seen three hummingbirds flying about all morning long. They were trying to keep each other away from the Turks Cap Flowers and while they were doing this, they would fly right past my face so many times. When they took a break from chasing each other, they sit up on the electric line located above the Turks Cap flowers or sit on the chain link fence right there by the Turks Cap flowers or up in one of the Bald Cypress Trees as this one is doing.

I'm wondering if this could be an immature Ruby Throat male, because it's tail is forked, I noticed in the other pics I got of this one the tail is definitely forked not rounded, didn't see any red on it's throat or any dark spots, just the forked tail.

I mostly see Ruby Throats and sometimes get lucky to see a Black Chinned and this year I got lucky and seen a female Rufus hummingbird.

I have the following flowers available for the hummers: Turks Cap, Tall Purple Mexican Petunias, Rose Mallow bush, hanging basket with Red Petunias, pot of Red Pentas, and Garden Phlox. I have a big Crepe Myrle tree in my front yard with blooms all over it.
