Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/16/2023

Number: 41

Our nightly walk to count roosting Monarchs gave us a net total of 41. The amazing find was what I am now calling 'micro monarchs'. We have seen miniature monarchs over the years, but these are so tiny they are nearly impossible to find. If you could adjust for size, they are slightly smaller when roosting than the diameter of a quarter. Out of the 41, only 4 were normal size. They roosted higher in our pine tree wind break than usual. Winds were calm and temp was 69F.
