We are down to just juveniles now. Our last resident adult male left a week ago and our adult females are on their way as well. Quite a few left over the weekend. God speed, dear little ones!
Our remaining juveniles continue to feed from both flowers and feeders. It's eerily quiet out there now. The youngsters are still chasing and playing, but now that they have the place to themselves, there just isn't nearly as much interaction.
I still have 11 feeders going, but 2-3 of them aren't really necessary at this point. This is where I start slowly decreasing the number I have out, with each feeder change. By mid October, I'll be down to 5-6, and then just 4 until November 1st.
At that point, we'll see if Raphy, our adult male Rufous, shows up to spend another winter with us. Last fall, our last Ruby juvie left October 15th and Rapy, the Rufous, showed up about a week later.
Temps are dropping. Fall is in the air. We're mainly in the 70s during the day now, with night time temps down in the high 50s, low 60s.
