Approximately 735 monarchs seen 5:45-7:40pm before 7:34 sunset at Tip at Point Pelee National Park. On drive down to Tip at Sparrow Field about 16 monarchs were flitting about and on branch over the road & there was a cluster of 2. Upon arrival at Tip shuttle stop observed about 60 flying around tree tops. Walked down west path to Tip. Along with the dragonflies same as prior evening monarchs were flying in from the south & west. Observed numerous monarchs flitting about in the interior trees. Walked to east side & entered interior trees area. 6:20pm already established was about 7 clusters ranging in size from 10-80 per roost. An 8th cluster was being established on SE side of tree about 30' up in one of their favourite Hackberry trees. It started out at about 30 monarchs & increased to about 55. Numerous monarchs individually settled on various trees.
7pm-Back to shuttle stop & a roost of about 135 monarchs was established on SW side about 35' up in interior Hackberry tree. Also there was a cluster of 5 about 15' up on cascading Virginia Creeper vine. All areas sheltered from wind.
By 7:25 all activity ceased. Mostly sunny, 19°c with NNW wind @ 15/26kmh. Daytime high 21°c. Overnight low 9°c.
