Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/19/2023

Number: 10

10 am this morning in my back yard there were about 6, but now at 10:50 there are more than 15. It was 60°, now 67°. Sunny, slight breeze. The monarchs are nectaring. Clues that they are migrating: they are large and don't scare off the flowers very easily. When they do fly up, they come right back down to feed, they don't fly off. I noticed about 5 monarchs yesterday, but wasn't sure it was the start of the migration as it was still early. Usually thay come through here 9/25 through 10/10. They are nectaring on tropical milkweed and lantana.
