Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/21/2023

Number: 7

Pleasantly surprised to still have 7 ruby-throats nectaring and frequently fighting. I nick-named the hummer in the picture, Irene, queen of Eu-ropa. I didn't check but I assume 2 are juvenile males that showed up recently. A couple hummers hit the red Lantana, yellow lantana, and purple agastache. Nice to see the expenditure paying off. A very large ruby-throat showed up very late that extended quitting time to 7:30 p.m. central daylight time this evening (by several minutes). Couldn't tell if it was an adult female or perhaps adult male RTHB. It was much larger than the other ruby-throats seen today.
