Sightings report image

Date: 09/22/2023

Number: 1

Last of the regular visitors to the feeder is this JV and was pencil thin a couple weeks ago. Being able to observe this bird without bother from other RTHs I've noticed: Repeated head bobbing at feeder at length. When perched aways looking, turning head, as if the others were still around. The other day, temp in 60s, overcast, the sun shone brightly for a minute and with the bird's back to me, it fanned out it's tail feathers, lifted it's right wing, cocked it's head to right and down to ruffle its body feather's to capture the heat. Canna Lily's were a late addition to our landscape, google says they're nectar rich. This bird seen on them and the petunia's. Will be gone anytime now.
