Counted 254 Monarchs this morning, roosting in Norway Spruce windbreak, Sycamore and Red Maple trees (very few in Sweetgum). Yesterday there were large numbers of Monarchs nectaring in our planted prairies. Mostly on Showy Goldenrod and New England Aster. The close proximity of shelter to these native fall flowering forbs is a big draw in this vast sea of corn and soybeans.
