Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/24/2023

Number: 2

Picture taken today, Sunday, Sept 24, 2023 @ 12:40 pm.

At 9:41 am it was 84 degrees and by 2:49 it was 96 degrees.

Thank goodness clouds started appearing in the sky and then we got some rain and so the temps started cooling off, @ 8:03 pm the temp was down to 84 degrees.

Spotted two hummers around 2:50 pm, one came down to the Turks Cap and another appeared out of the blue and chased it away. I seen this more often today than yesterday.

Seems like most of the time when I looked outside, there would be a hummingbird at the Turks Cap flowers located at the back of my yard, but also seen at this feeder.

I think the other hummer I was seeing seems like it's an immature male because it's throat was looking like a dark shadow on it, when I'd zoom in on the hummer and looked at the throat you can see all the dark dots on it's throat.

Flowers available for the hummers are: Turks Cap flowers in two different locations in back yard, Tall Purple Mexican Petunias, one group in back yard and one group in my front yard, Rose Mallow bush, hanging basket of Red Petunias, a pot of Red Pentas sitting in a tall plant stand, Texas Five Star Hibiscus, I had forgot to mention them in the most recent post, that's because they don't put out flowers daily since the hot summer heat we've had, Garden Phlox, Clematis vine with purple flowers on it, a big Crepe Myrtle tree in the front yard.
