Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 09/25/2023

Number: 2

Picture taken Monday, Sept 25th @ 12:07 pm.

Here in Irving, TX, the morning started off with 72 degrees at 6:30 am and at 7:00 pm it's 90 degrees. We got 1 and 1/8 inches of rain last night.

First thing this morning I was seeing two hummingbirds flying about the yard. They were going to the feeder and flowers pretty often for the first couple of hours, then it slowed down. It's been a good while since I've got a picture of a hummingbird at my tall Mexican Petunias. This looks like a female Ruby Throat, I'm pretty sure the other one is an immature male which I've been seeing.

The main source of flowers they go to are the Turks Cap flowers, so many little red flowers on the plants. They have other flowers they can go to for nectar.
