5:35-7:10pm before 7:13 sunset at the Tip at Point Pelee National Park. 42 monarchs were seen flying north to south up to 30' high over west path or over west shoreline. Some that had ventured a bit over the lake would test the wind checking at higher & lower altitudes & then retreating to interior Tip trees. A few chose Hackberry trees & basked in the sunshine at heights of 6' to 15'. A few were seen flying around shuttle stop with one settled in a Hackberry tree with nests of fall webworms. No clusters located.
Sunny, 20°c with light ESE wind @ 9/18kmh. Daytime high 23c. Overnight low of 13°. Warmer temps continue 23°c-26°c, overnight lows of 14°-18°c & southerly winds this week should increase the monarch numbers.
