Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/23/2023

Number: 4

observation time frame was from 7:30am until 9am. it was 50 degrees with occasional gusting winds of 12mph out of the east. Sunny skies with high temperature for the day expected to be 74 degrees. All four ruby throated hummingbirds were very plump. All drank for a long time. During this viewing out of the bay window from inside at the dining room table, two of the hummers preformed an up and down , back and forth dance at the window as if to say thank you and a final goodbye for the season. I never observe this kind of behavior except from assumed resident hummers at the very start of the season if a feeder hasn't been hung yet at it's usual location and at the end of the season when assumed season regulars departed. I assum as the day before I only had two hummers hitting the feeders all day that were probably regular residents.
