Evening observation time frame was from 7:00pm until 7:50pm. The temperature was 65 degrees with 3 mph wind speed out of the east, under cloudy skies with off and on occasional drizzle. Only one plump female ruby throated hummer was observed at 7:25pm. She perched and drank for over four minutes before eventually flying into a heavily leafed maple tree next to the patio. With rain and stronger winds predicted for the next two days I have a feeling this might be my last hummer seen this season. However as in all the years past I will continue to leave up and freshly filled at least the three highest visible feeders of my five. If I should observe another hummer at one of those feeders, I will reset my two to three week waiting period before removing them for the season.
