Just after 12 noon I was walking the perimeter of our property on the east side of our tall cedar hedge when I disturbed it. There are some New England Asters nearby that he may have nectared on. After I disturbed him, he flew up a little, around in a circle, I thought he might alight again but alas he headed south following the line of our cedar hedge until he disappeared out of my view. No time for a photograph. In the brief seconds that I was able to view, I believe it was a male but I cannot say 100%. He was in a wind shadow in the location where I found him. Sky clear and sunny. Observations from the nearest reporting station at Windsor airport: 27°C, wind out of the SSW at 22 km/h with gusts up to 33 km/h, humidity 51%, dewpoint 16°C, barometric pressure 101.9 kPa and falling. Still plenty of nectar sources nearby including New England Aster (waning) and other similar wildflowers.
