Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/03/2023

Number: 22

I counted twenty-two monarchs while walking in the gardens in the late afternoon. There may have been more but I didn't want to risk counting any twice. Twelve were feeding from butterfly bushes, six from Mexican sunflowers, one from bog sage, and one from asters. Two more flew over, headed west. I haven't seen this many monarchs in many years. Usually three or four are the most I've spotted at one time in previous years.
