Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/05/2023

Number: 2

Thursday Oct 5, I spotted two hummingbirds at the Turks Cap flowers that are on the side of my house, as I walked over that way, they flew up into the Bald Cypress Tree in the park. These two or one of them let me get lots of pics of it while up in the tree and sitting on our chain link fence and getting its nectar from the Turks Cap Flowers. I also posted a picture of one of the hummers at the Turks Cap Flowers at my back fence.

Finally we got some good rain, it started around 8:30 pm Wednesday night, this morning my rain gauge had 2 1/2 inches in it. The high temp for the day was 84 degrees.

Flowers available for our hummers are: Turks Cap, Tall Mexican Petunias, one group in my back and front yard, and I have the short Mexican Petunias on the front yard side of my house, Rose Mallow bush, hanging basket of red Petunias, pot of Red Pentas in a tall plant stand, vine with purple Clematis (not very many on the vine) some morning glories that have popped up on my fence, Garden Phlox, a Big Crepe Myrtle tree in my front yard. I have a Fire Bush that have lots of buds on it, some have opened up. The Fire Bush buds always open up @ the end of hummingbird season.
