Most Salvias and Dahlias are in full bloom despite excessive rain, low temperatures. Cold front is arriving tomorrow with day temperatures in 50s and nights in 40s. Camera shows many Praying Mantids on top branches of Salvias but hummingbirds are nectaring from lower branches! Hummingbirds are routinely chasing American Goldfinches, Song Sparrows, House Finches and what I believe to be an American kestrel.
