Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/07/2023

Number: 1

This hardy juvenile male ruby-throat has really been hanging in with the temperature drop in the last few days. He spent the whole day here again. This date marks the second latest day ever for us seeing hummingbird birds in our yard during fall migration (latest is Oct. 10). This little guy has really made our season. It was cool again today with the high in the low 50s and lows near 40°. He must be conserving energy as he perched most of the time. He nectared at feeders until late in the evening and then really went after black-and-blue salvias. I last saw him at 6:44 p.m. central daylight time. I think he finished up feeding for the day at black-and-blue salvias that are out of sight from our deck.
