Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/08/2023

Number: 1

I believe we are down to one little Ruby, most likely a juvenile female, but could be an adult female. I'm almost certain she is a traveler and not one of our residents, as she stays completely to herself. She is not going to the feeders, but seems to be feeding strictly from the flowers. She appears to be the only one here at this point and travels around, feeding from flowers among the various gardens throughout the property. We're in the midst of our first cold snap of the season; it was 40 degrees this morning and is due to be 40 tomorrow morning as well. Night time/morning temps will improve slightly throughout the week. Highs will be in the mid 60s to mid 70s. The wind was not favorable for hummingbirds traveling through our area today, as it was pushing to the SE, with gusts at 20mph.
