Wind 15 mph with gusts up to 24 mph. Temperature 73 degrees. A fresh adult female was observed flying out of a shrub and into the grass. I assume it was seeking shelter from the wind. Monarch caterpillars have been observed at this same location in the past.
A second adult, which appeared fresh, was seen a short time later in the same general. The wind had died down and it was flying to the east. This is the same direction the Owens River flows.
