Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/12/2023

Number: 1

My boyfriend called me to tell me that he had a monarch briefly land on his windshield wiper. He tried to get a picture of it but it flew off. He was SO excited and couldn't wait to call me. He is not passionate about the monarchs like me, but he was today! He told me that this was the biggest monarch he had ever seen. Probably almost a 7 inch wingspan from tip to tip. Within an inch lower or higher. I saw one that big in a different town yesterday and recorded it. This wouldn't be the same one he saw because it isn't along the migration path. He doesn't know if it was a male or female. I hope it can make it as far south as possible before the big cold snap (freezing temps) we are getting ready to have in 2-3 days.

People probably aren't reporting much now since it is later in the season, so I wanted to record mine and his. I truly hope this one and the one yesterday will make it to Mexico. They certainly are big enough to get further with those wings!
