I was shocked to see 3 ruby-throated hummers this morning. I thought for sure yesterday evening we were down to 1. I don't know if the other 2 overnighted elsewhere in the neighborhood or were just on the move early. So we have set a new latest sighting date today (which had been set yesterday after 10 years) and a new latest sighting date of multiple hummers that we just set on 10/10/23 (2 hummers). There were 2 immature males and a very plump adult female. Feeding again was mostly insects, and nectaring from black-and-blue salvias and a pink salvia. The day was partly sunny in the morning turning to cloudy and rain after 3:00 p.m. High temperature was 57° and low of about 42°. Lost sight of the last RTHB at 6:42 p.m. CDT.
