Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/16/2023

Number: 1

Still in Minnesota! This ruby-throated hummer is really going to have to move fast when it decides to leave. I saw it a few times today nectaring at black-and-blue salvias and cigar flowers. Watching the maneuvers as it caught insects was comical! I thought it had left to go south around 1:00 p.m. but saw it again late this evening nectaring at more black-and-blue salvias. So it will overnight here once more. The saga of extending our longest hummingbird season ever has not ended yet! Day was sunny with a high around 57°. Lost sight of the RTHB at 6:35 p.m. CDT as it probably left to roost.
