Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/17/2023

Number: 1

This ruby-throated hummer is still lovin' Minnesota. I think it's an immature male. It has been here about 2 weeks and we have watched it gain weight over that time. He fed as usual from black-and-blue salvias, cigar flowers, and occasionally at a nectar feeder. And insects galore! It has been a hoot to have this hummer around for so long and so late into the season here in the north. I'd love to know where he will go next. The day was sunny with a high of about 60°. Similar to yesterday I lost sight of him between 6:30 and 6:35 p.m. CDT because of low light. Keep the feeders up!
