A single Monarch was seen feeding on a Golden Crownbeard along with a mass of other butterflies -- Variagated Fritillary, Gulf Fritillary, Pipevine, Cloudless Sulfur, Buckeye, and Assorted Skippers. The afternoon sky was completely clear about 70 degrees F. with a 10 mph south wind. The site was sandy soil along the banks of the Arkansas River. Other plants that were flowering were Prairie Sunflower and Camphorweed.
