Not the greatest picture but it was all I could get today. I saw a small ruby-throated hummer nectaring at black-and-blue salvias in front of the house. I think it was just passing through because it fed for a bit and then made a beeline south past our maple tree. As soon as it disappeared I turned around to see the immature male RTHB that has been around for some time nectaring at black-and-blue salvias on our back deck. And as can be seen it nectared on cigar flowers as well. It is amazing that ruby-throats are still coming from the north of us in Minnesota. I saw the immature male ruby-throat later in the evening so it will roost nearby again for the evening. I can hardly believe this hummer has hung on this long! Seeing 2 hummers today was an amazing double surprise! The day was cloudy with some rain and a high near 60°.
