Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/10/2023

Number: 8

I am hand raising them in my garage. I found varying size instars on my rapidly dying milkweed. One turned into a chrysalis on 10/17/2023. Two more are j-hanging ready to form chrysalis soon. Three are at top of enclosure forming silk and two are still on milkweed in the enclosure.
I have my doubts that it will be warm enough when it is time to release them all, especially the smaller instar. However, there will be nothing I can do but release them regardless of the weather. I will just have to hope for the best.
Since Aug 4th, I have raised (mostly from the egg stage) and released 37 monarchs. These next 8 have been a surprise to me. I wasn’t expecting to find these.
