Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/19/2023

Number: 2

Incredible. I never imagined 2 ruby-throated hummers would still be here in Minnesota this late in the migration. I'm not sure if the one I thought headed south yesterday stuck around or if 3 were actually here yesterday evening. Because the 2 hummers today were out and about first thing this morning. It could be another RTHB had stopped in from points north. Hummers are still coming from the north! The RTHBs again nectared from black-and-blue salvias, cigar flowers, and a pink salvia. The day was cloudy with a high near 60°. Last sighting of a hummer today was at 6:33 p.m. CDT. So we'll have overnighters once again! I have to believe there are ruby-throats in the central U.S. that aren't being reported.
