Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/23/2023

Number: 2

It's hard to get a good picture of the 2 ruby-throated hummers that are here. They feed so fast at the black-and-blue salvias, pink salvia, and cigar flowers and then they're off into a tree. To say we were shocked to see 2 hummers again today is an understatement. It's been incredible so many stragglers are coming to us from north of us in Minnesota. I have to believe it's because we still have flowers. Several RTHBs have passed thru in the last 2 weeks. The day was sunny and topped out in the mid-60s. I didn't watch the hummers until last light but I did see one at 5:20 p.m. CDT. Perhaps we'll see it in the morning. It's been the best season ever in terms of late October sightings. Amazing.
