Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/27/2023

Number: 2

Had 2 ruby-throated hummers nectaring at black-and-blue salvias again today despite a high of only about 38°. One would perch on a flower cage and the other in the ash tree in the picture. No fighting today. I've read recently that ruby throats can handle temps. in the 20's. Hope so. I might need to bring a couple flowers inside at night and put them out in the morning if these 2 stick around. I'll rest easier when they leave. I saw them late this afternoon so they'll be roosting nearby again tonight. Hope I don't end up taking them to a wildlife rescue center. It's beyond amazing for us to have 2 ruby-throats let alone 1 here so late.
