Pruned all my tropical milkweed back 3 weeks ago, but with our very warm October in Orange, CA (80's and 90's), some has begun to grow back. I hadn't had a monarch in the garden in 2 months, so was very surprised to see this one canvassing the garden for milkweed. Watched to see if it was a female laying eggs, but didn't catch it, so not sure. Makes me think we may have resident monarchs this year since this week (Oct 30-Nov 4) is expected to be in the mid to hi 80's still.
