In the late afternoon I saw a bright monarch flying in our front yard. I followed its flight path towards the pastures and tree line, but didn't have a camera with me.

As I walked about through the areas with milkweed plants, I found 3 monarch caterpillars (2 5th instars, 1 4th instar).

A cold front is beginning to move in today, bringing rain and chilly temperatures. Will be freezing at night in the next couple of days.
