Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/05/2023

Number: 2

We had a killing freeze on Nov. 2nd and 3rd. There are still some flowers like Gaillardia, Calendula, Nicotiana, some Salvias, Solidago speciosa and Aster tataricum. Two Monarchs were flying around this morning, first warm day after the freeze. Cabbage butterflies were around even in 40s until day before but absent today. Around 11am, the greenhouse (with 1000+ plants and more than 50% blooming) roof and side vents opened. By afternoon, one Monarch entered the greenhouse and has stayed. Other disappeared probably roosting on some tree. Interesting to see what happens tomorrow - yet another warm day!
