Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 11/15/2023

Number: 1

Buff-bellied hummingbird went to all we have blooming today until 1 p.m. Then went up into magnolia tree. Photo is of him on right of red porterweed. He sat on potted grapevine branch looking up,around too.

I have never seen a male Buff-bellied hummingbird stay this long to see a behavior and that red curved beak. He wasn't intimidated by male Rufous agresiveness and stood his ground when they went at it up in desert willow tree around 9 a.m.

Buff- bellied then came back in evening, nectered again from 4:30 to dusk. U ing in and out from pergola edge looking for another something hummingbird to come in. Sat on desert willow tree twigg where Rufous does. Rufous not in sight at dusk this time only early morning time.

What a rare species sighting for here to experience.
