Sightings report image

Number: 1

6:50 a.m. I put a warm refilled feeder out after rain storm/cold front hit last night. This is before light photo as he usually comes to blooming Sophra plant area.

Male Rufous just does quick sips and appears that he has had trouble in past with other Rufous by this looking up behavior where he came from. I have seen him sit on this feeder last week one sunny afternoon gulping fast after chasing something out.

There is no way to use a heater on this feeder type. We just bring in our feeders if it gets in 30's at night. Wrap jar ones in bubble wrap return out just before daylight.

Heated hummingbird feeders just get too much mold fast at sun up in our up and down climate. We hang feeders where sun hits them briefly to warm feeder.

We are back in 50's with him nectaring on patio salvias around 7 a m.
