I counted 14 caterpillars on the milkweed in my back yard on 1/2/2023. So far, only 1 has successfully formed a chrysalis. Five have hung themselves upside down and then grown black and desiccated with fine white strings coming out of the corpse. Four are still eating milkweed. I’m not sure where the others went.
