Hummingbird, Rufous (FIRST)
Sightings report image

Date: 01/16/2024

Number: 2

I had 5 hummingbirds that made it through several days of the artic blast which brought us 21 degree lows from 1/15/24 - 1/17/24. I kept nectar from freezing by using hand warmers and koozies. I even used wax warmers to keep nectar from freezing. This is a male Rufous that I named Rudy because he showed up on Christmas Day. I had another Rufous that I named Trudy, but over time it became obvious that he was a male so I shorted his name to Tru.
