This is the 4th year in a row that my husband and I have witnessed 1000s upon 1000s of robins flying overhead daily in large batches(1000 or more) to small ones of 3-10. All day long from around noon to sundown there are waves upon waves of robins flying at varying heights; punctuated by small breaks without any in the sky. This usually goes on for about a month.. then things settle down to small batches permanently staying thru the summer.
