~ Spring peepers & croaking frogs around our spring-fed pond came early this year. A resounding chorus of them also heard singing along the perennial stream that runs along our properties and flows into Difficult Run/Potomac River/Great Falls Park areas.
~ White snowdrop flowers & daffodils starting to bloom.
~ Species attracted by the frog cacophony include: Red-Shouldered Hawks, Great Blue Herons, Red-Tailed Hawks, with Bald Eagle circling overhead.
Foxes, Raccoons also seen foraging along shallow waters with frog eggs present.
~ Songbirds are transforming their voices with Spring's approach; Cardinals, Blue Birds, Thrushes, Finches, Sparrows, Robins, are all sounding different with their increasingly liquid-y calls (to their mates).
~ Looking forward to our Hummingbirds' return.
~ Our family has been observing these Spring inhabitants for over 50 years, and we're so happy we've been able to preserve a swath of their forest-stream habitat for another season!
