Milkweed (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/05/2024

I found our first milkweed sprouts this afternoon: 10 Asclepias viridis (Green milkweed) plants. I have not yet seen any monarchs, though looking a lot.

There are plenty of good nectar sources for the monarchs when they arrive. The wild blackberry blossoms and false garlic flowers are abundant. The yellow thistles are just starting to flower. The redbuds, pear trees, and Mexican plum trees are in full bloom. Many honey bees, bumblebees & butterflies are enjoying the wildflowers. Now we eagerly await the wonderful monarchs!
