Tulips EMERGED
Sightings report image

Date: 03/12/2024

We checked yesterday and there were NO TULIPS. We checked this morning and there were NO TULIPS. We checked again this afternoon and a student asked, Is this it? Way to go 2nd and 3rd graders from Txuj Ci! I'm so impressed! We planted 20 tulip gardens at 18 different school sites this year. That's over 1,000 tulips with nearly 1,000 SPPS students. 17 school sites were in the urban area of Saint Paul. 1 site, Belwin, is an ex-urban location. Our average urban garden emerged on March 3 (after dropping two gardens planted next to south-facing walls). And Belwin's tulips emerged a full 9 days later. Holy Heat Island Effect! Did you know humans can change climate? Apparently, the tulips know this :) Or at least they can show it :)
