Sightings report image

Date: 04/12/2024

Number: 1

Adult male rubythroat 6:45 p.m. landed and sipped on small purple high view feeder with a red ribbon attached. Then went over to patio nectaring from Purple, Amigo gurantica, Blue
Swede shoes gurantica- potted hybrid salvias. Then came back again to feeder in photo at 7:20 p.m.

We have had the worst April spring weather 2024 ever. With storms weekly still, and wind issues in the 20 mph ranges some days.

(I don't think it's understood we put out 6 different feeder styles in spring. Just to help migrating rubythroats find their favorite recognizable feeder. A lot of work. The 'First nature'plastic bottle feeders are the least used by spring male rubythroats. I see this style feeder in photos in east. That just flat doesn't appeal to incoming male rubythroats bc of weird bee guard slant ports holes. High view and disk feeders are the most used)
