Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 04/14/2024

Number: 2

Our first Ruby sighting of the year, an adult male, was on April 1st. Since then, we've had numerous travelers stop by on their way further north. On Friday, the 12th, I believe our resident Rubies began to arrive. I've seen at least one adult male and one adult female. It was a super busy weekend, so I didn't have a lot of observation time; however, based on the behavior I did observe, I'm fairly confident that at least one of our resident adult males is back. He was feeding from several varieties of blooming Salvia and Fuschia that we had overwintered in our garage. I'll report more throughout the week. So happy to have them back. Can't wait until the rest arrive.
