I would have taken photos on the plants themselves but, you can't make this stuff up--I had an injured Red-Spotted Purple in my other hand. These little guys are first instars, maybe a couple days old, and probably the same age as the eggs reported in Brentwood last week. Interestingly, the monarchs didn't hit the much larger milkweed patch next to the Goodwill bins just a half mile down the road.
