Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/21/2024

Number: 2

Still not much activity the past week & a half. The same male ruby comes every day. Probably starts in the AM before I'm up. This small dark male is very punctual. Almost always comes to the feeder at 7:30 PM & stays til 8:30 relaxing on a stick about 18 inches above the feeder between drinks. Other males & possibly females occasionally come but are very skittish & rightfully so...Little Blacky successfully chases off all comers. We have a huge amount of Japanese yellow/white honeysuckle on the edge of the woods at our back property line. We've never seen hummers there, but it would be difficult to. I'm currently rooting yellow/pink vine (native cross with Japanese?) to plant in a large pot not far from our feeder. We'll see what happens.
